My large dog has pancreatitis. How much should I feed her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chesapeake Bay Retriever | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 100 lbs

My dog has acute pancreatitis.. She weighs 105lbs and had been on medication since Thursday. Currently I'm only feeding her 12 tablespoons a day of the prescription dog food but that seems really little for a dog her size

It is best to go slow with feedings after a bout of pancreatitis. I suggest you continue with the 12 tablespoons and then speak to your vet tomorrow about how you should proceed. She won't starve, I promise!
