Is royal canin gastro intenstnal low fat is good for gsd 2 yr dog pancreas .and how to give . With milk or simply. And dosage time .and what thing not to eat during this hpl me !amen!

I would recommend doing small meals every 4-6 hours and see if your dog can keep that down. If you're feeding the canned food do about 3 tablespoons to start and then slowly increase the amount you are giving him until he is recovered. If you're feeding the dry food do it in half cup increments and then slowly increase the amount you are giving him if he is able to keep it down.
I would not recommend adding milk to the diet as this could further irritate the stomach.

Hello, sorry to hear about Capone. Yes there are protein supplements that can be added to food, however, these are typically better formulated by a nutritionist. Additionally, his weight loss may not be from the food itself but more so from his chronic pancreatitis or this could be signs that there is something else going on with him. If his weight loss continues, he may need to have more extensive diagnostics to look for evidence of other diseases. With chronic pancreatitis, he could eventually develop a deficiency in pancreatic enzymes that help digest food, and he may actually not be absorbing all of the nutrients in his diet.
Talk with your veterinarian about testing for exocrine pancreas insufficiency (EPI) and consulting with a nutritionist. Hope this helps and best of luck.1Pet Parents found this answer helpful

Please confirm with your vets if there is now a pancreatic insufficiency (pancreas does not work well and leads to poor digestion) - a hydrolyzed diet such as royal canin hypoallergenic and enzyme supplements can help or if it is related to inflammation of the pancreas - low fat (royal canin gastrointestinal low fat; a high calorie but low fat diet) food may be required in such cases to prevent recurrence and maintain good nutrition - the addition of pancreatic enzymes can help in such cases until weight has been regained

The current recommendations are to feed a low fat diet to dogs prone to pancreatitis. Fat or high fat meals are usually the primary cause of a pancreatitis flare up. There are several prescription diets made specifically with a low fat profile such as Hills i/d and Royal Canin's GI low fat. If your dog has allergies as well, Royal Canin makes a great food, Hypoallergenic PW (potato and white fish) that would take care of both issues.
