How much dry food should I feed my 8-week-old Labernese puppy daily?

I like to feed four to six smaller meals a day with a young puppy. Please give a large breed dog food so Toby doesn’t grow too fast. I judge the amount to feed by how hungry he is. If he’s ravenous at each meal you are not feeding enough. I increase the amount at each feeding so he’s hungry and just finishes the food. As he grows you’ll find he’ll only want to eat two times a day. As he grows his activity level and growth spurts change the amount of food he needs so I always feed puppies based on their hunger not a specific amount. I personally prefer the Purina Pro Plan shredded blends for puppies as they are generally inexpensive, are of great quality and dogs seems to love it. For the amount to feed her, I advice you follow the guidelines that you will find in the back of the bag. Keep in mind that you should get the puppy blend. Also, keep in mind that as she grows, you will notice in the back of the bag that it will advice you feed her more. When she becomes a year old, she should be switched to an adult diet. I recommend feeding a large breed puppy food four times daily. I start with the amount recommended on the bag. If he is ravenous then I increase that amount at each meal so that he’s hungry and just about finishes the food but isn’t starving. Many active dogs need more food than recommended, so I judge the amount by your specific dogs needs. Gradually decrease to three meals a day after a month or two then to two meals daily when he’s six to eight months old. There is a little variation among individuals but that is a good place to start. I can’t give you an exact calorie requirement without seeing Montana and deciding if she is thin, ideal or a little chunky for her frame. Ballpark is likely around 600 kcals per day. For most foods that’s 2-3cups. Ideally, divide that into three small meals per day. If you’d like a more exact recommendation, talk to your vet and she can calculate that for you. Every bag of dog food has different feeding instructions because it is based on the individual calories of the food. She will need to eat a puppy food and if she is expected to be over 55 pounds as an adult, she needs to eat a large breed puppy food. Feed the amount recommended on the bag based upon her bodyweight. As she grows, you will need to increase the food. Your veterinarian can help you to determine if she has a good body condition score. What I recommend is that you follow the feeding instructions in the bag of the food you are feeding Simba. The reason is that every diet has a different caloric content.
