How much Royal Canin Maxi Starter should I feed my 40-day-old Lab?

I would feeding him according to the instructions on the label (each food has a different daily allotment). Divide the daily recommendation into three equal portions to feed him three times a day (morning, noon, evening). Once he is six months old, he can be fed twice a day (morning and evening).

Hi there and thanks for your question! This all depends on his weight and age. To make a estimate, I would need his exact weight, but in this case I'll estimate given his picture at around 40lbs. RER (resting energy requirement) would be around 611 calories/day but since he is a puppy, he needs roughly 2-3 X this amount, so between 1222 calories and 1835 calories a day. Great question! I would feed a good quality food that is specially formulated for large-breed puppies, to make sure that your pup is getting the optimal balance of nutrients for growth at this age. Royal Canin or Purina ProPlan are both good brands - Royal Canin even makes a food specifically for Labs, so it would be great choice for your puppy :)

Hello, at this age, Roma should be on a good puppy food. You can use a canned or dry kibble ( or mix the 2 ), or you can moisten the dry with a little water. Just do not make it soupy as you will dilute the nutrients. At about 3 months of age, I would switch to a large breed puppy food that you can continue until Roma is 12-15 months old, then change over to an adult maintenance food. Royal canin maxi starter contains an acceptable amount of fat that is good for a pup so I think this would be a good option for Binnu. Good luck!

A Labrador puppy should be on a large breed puppy food until 15months. A starter food can be used from 2-8weeks as it can be easier to soften and can be fed slightly warm. Be sure to keep up to date with deworming medication and offer additional meals of scrambled egg, canned puppy food or boiled chicken to increase energy intake until stronger

Determine how much to feed a puppy can certainly be quite confusing! I'm glad to hear that you are offering Bourbon food four times per day. In another month, you can decrease his feeding to three times a day, and eventually twice per day. The Royal Canin Maxi Starter food is great for growing puppies! By 2 months of age, Bourbon should be able to start chewing through dry kibble, so you can start to wean him off of the water soaked kibble over the next few weeks. Cerelac is not a necessary component of any dog's diet, so I would recommend stopping that and strictly feeding the balanced puppy food. Based upon the feeding guide for your puppy food, Bourbon should eat around 250 - 260 gm per day, meaning that he should eat around 60 - 65 gm per meal.
