How can I identify the specific type of Pitbull my puppy is?

He certainly may be, but it would be good to know for sure by running a genetic test such as the Wisdom Panel. This can be purchased online and requires a saliva sample from your pet. Your puppy is very cute! It is important to remember that visual identification is inaccurate 75% of the time. However if I had to guess, I think there is some pitbull terrier in your pup. It is likely that your pup is a mix of several different breeds. It is also possible that boxer or Boston terrier is present in the heritage. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian if genetic testing is available in your area. That is the most accurate way to know the heritage.

Well, whatever he is, it's pretty cute! His head is pretty square and indicates some Pit Bull component. Other than that, there are no characteristics similar to other dog breeds that I can see. Sometimes it is easier to guess when they are adults, since puppies are harder to guess at. There are also genetic panels (that are not completely accurate) that can be done to find out possible breed components.

It is impossible to determine whether they are purebred at this age as puppies pretty much all look the same at this age. You should be able to tell by the time they are around 4 months old. There is also a possibility to do a DNA test to check whether they are purebred. This may have to be arranged through your veterinarian.
