My puppy's breed: How can I accurately identify what kind of dog he is?

Your puppy is very cute! It is important to remember that visual identification is inaccurate 75% of the time. However if I had to guess, I think there is some pitbull terrier in your pup. It is likely that your pup is a mix of several different breeds. It is also possible that boxer or Boston terrier is present in the heritage. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian if genetic testing is available in your area. That is the most accurate way to know the heritage.

It’s difficult to say for sure but it looks like he may be part rat terrier or jack Russell terrier or some other type of terrier with pointed ears. He is really cute! Unfortunately there is no way to know for sure. You can do a DNA test but it isn’t 100% accurate and I did it on my dog just for fun.

From what I can see, he looks like a medium-to-large breed of some sort. Possibly some kind of retriever mix, but that's just a guess. If you don't have any information about his parents, your best bet would be to have a DNA test such as a Wisdom panel done. This would give you more information about what breed (or mix of breeds) he is, which would allow you to make a more educated guess about his adult size and weight.

As you mentioned, it’s a bit of a guessing game to determine the dogs breed based on pictures alone. However, Chappie, Candle, and Jimmy look most like Chihuahua mixes to me. There are DNA tests available, such as Wisdom panels, but nothing is 100% accurate. Regardless, they’re adorable!

Whatever he is, he is adorable. My best guess would be spaniel and possibly pomeranian. If you're really curious, there are DNA tests available to determine genetically what breeds your dog is, but honestly to me it wouldn't matter. It is really hard to tell from the pictures how big Dukey is. Puppies are also hard to guess their breed because they don't have the typical adult features that we use when guessing at the breed. He may be a heeler variety, but I am not as familiar with breeds commonly found in India. Whatever breed he is, he looks very cute!
