What food should I feed my Great Pyrenees puppy for healthy growth?

I personally would choose a food like Iams, science diet or royal canin over rachael ray simply because these companies have been around for a very long time and have done a lot of research to back their products. Some of these newer foods or "boutique" foods do not properly research their products and therefore, aren't as high quality as they claim. I would just tell your sisters this and see if they would be willing to switch. If you do decide to switch her to the new food, I would slow transition her from the old food to the new food over a 10-14 day period to prevent an upset stomach. I hope this helps!

Your puppy should be eating a puppy food formula (the large breed formulas) until Luci is around 11 months old and then you can transition her to the adult Abound formula that your other dog is currently eating. There are a number of great puppy foods out there. Hill's, Royal Canin, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Orijen or Purina would be great options you can find at your local pet food store.

Large or giant breed puppies should be fed an appropriate large/giant breed puppy diet until about 18 months of age. The reason being that they develop slower than other breeds. Many do not stop growing until around 2 years of age. Most above average and premium brands have a diet for large breed puppies. Brands include Canidae, Orijen, Acana and Taste of the Wild. Choose the diet that is easy to buy, that Sarge will eat and will not cause stomach upset. Personally, I'm not a fan of the BB line. She really needs the additional nutrients in that is in the puppy food so maybe you could try mixing the two types of food or adding some canned food that is puppy food. You could also give her a multi-vitamin to help if needed. For her size she should probably eating about 4 cups of food a day. You can also add canned food to entice her to eat. If you are unsure whether her weight is okay, I would have your vet take a look at her to ensure she isn’t underweight. I hope this helps.

What a gorgeous pup! Great Dane puppies have a massive requirement for nutrients so I recommend investing in feeding a really good quality food for giant breed puppies. Royal canin does a really good puppy food which I trust for my own dogs. Don't listen to things like not feeding puppy food, there is no evidence for that. It is actually really important to feed puppy food because a puppy has different needs to an adult. Energy level has more to do with the carbohydrate in the feed rather than protein.

Hello. I think that is an excellent idea. Even though there is terrier in the mix, the Pyrenees part of him might still carry some hip dysplasia genes & this can still manifest as he ages. All a large breed diet does is allow for a slightly lower growth curve, allowing more time for bones, tendons, ligaments & muscle tissue to mature together. I personally like Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I have fed Royal Canin and Iams to my pets (cats and dogs), and have found them to be excellent food for them. They will all have a giant breed formula. Acana and Orijen are good brands, but they are quite expensive.
