It could be hives, an infection, or some type of mass. Your vet could prescribe an antibiotic and an anti-histamine to see if that helps. If not, the lumps should be aspirated and the sample can be submitted to a lab for evaluation. Once diagnosed, your vet can determine the best way to treat the problem.

Hi there and thank you for posting! It is hard to say exactly what the cause of Max's skin condition may be without examining Max first, but I can offer some possibilities. It could be a fungal infection or a mite infection. These are common in puppies and young dogs and present typically around the face, nose, muzzle and eyes. Your veterinarian can diagnose these potential conditions with a few simple skin tests. I would recommend Max visit his vet soon to have the possibilities above diagnosed so he can be treated with the proper medication. Ari may have injured herself when trying to get the ice off her mouth, and there may have been de-icing chemicals in the ice as well which could have irritated the skin. You should wash the mouth and nose with some mild soapy water, then apply some antibiotic ointment. If the redness is not gone by monday, or if the skin starts looking worse, you need to take her to a veterinarian or pet ER for an exam and treatment.

Lemuiex is adorable! The crusting and scaling on his ear margins could be due to vasculitis or a fungal infection, among others. Scabies does not typically cause this type of lesion on the ear margins, but the only way to determine that is through skin scraping. Vasculitis can be caused by a wide variety of issues, including infection, immune system disorders, drug/vaccine reactions, burns, cancer, among others. Until you take Lemuiex to the vet, you can try applying topical antibacterial/antifungal ointments to this area, but prescription medication is most likely necessary for this type of issue. King's urinary symptoms could be due to a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, a mass, endocrine disease, or toxin ingestion. It is important that you have King seen by a veterinarian to help determine the cause of the signs and to start treatment. If you notice him straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and can be life threatening, so he needs to be seen by a vet right away. Skin lesions can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. I recommend having King seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the lesions you’ve noticed and to make sure they are treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. In the meantime, you can bathe King in hypoallergenic shampoo for dogs to clean the area, but this will likely not resolve the lesions.

I think allergies are a possibility, there may be a secondary infection as well. Based on the locations of the lesions it could also be an auto-immune disease, as there are a few that can cause crustiness around the nose and eyes. Lastly, some endocrine conditions such as Cushings disease or hypothyroidism can cause skin problems as well. I'd have your friend take her dog to the vet so they can figure out the best way to treat it.

Hello. Oh, dear, having breathing issues can be very serious. We have to think about heart or lung issues, including heartworm disease, bronchitis, pneumonia, or even heart failure. You do not mention how old your pet is as this may rule out some conditions, but any breathing issues are serious. The eye discharge can also be a reflection of a pet feeling unwell. I would strongly recommend having your vet examine your golden. Some problems can be eliminated/diagnosed pretty quickly & hopefully, any required treatments can be started & your pet will be feeling better very soon.
