How long does Frontline Plus take to dry before I can pet my dog?

Topical products can take a few hours to absorb into the skin. If applied more to the fur than skin it may take a bit longer. Ideally I would leash walk them until the area appears dry to look and touch to prevent them from rubbing it off, or getting dirt caked in the application spot. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I recommend waiting about 2-3 days after applying Frontline to bathe your dog to allow sufficient time for the product to absorb. You should also wait about 2-3 days after bathing to apply Frontline to allow the skin to be slightly oily to optimally absorb the product.

Since a bath wets the skin significantly and also softens it, I suggest you wait a few hours until your dog is completely dry , ie has a dry hair coat as well as completely dry skin. Once the skin is dry there should be no problem with application of the tick and flea treatment.

You can wash the product off his har with Dawn dish soap (it is a grease/oil remover). Then wait 24 hours and apply the Frontline again. If you can't get the topical product on him effectively you may need to switch to an oral product or use a Seresto collar. One Seresto collar lasts up to 8 months. It is very cost effective and easy to use. You didn't mention the age of your puppy so be sure to read all package instructions to make sure products are safe to use on whatever age your puppy is. The active ingredients in Frontline Plus are rather safe, so I would not be worried about any toxic effects this long after you applied the previous dose. Considering the bathing likely did remove a fair amount of the previous solution and you are seeing fleas, it's safe to say that Maddie will need some extra protection. The manufacturer recommends not bathing until 48 hours after applying Frontline, but I always advise not to give a bath one week after applying topical medications like Frontline to be safe. it may be a reaction to the medicine. The best thing to do is bathe him in dawn dish washing liquid to strip the medicine and oils from his coat and skin. If he starts twitching or having tremors, then he needs to go to a vet. If he is not normal by morning then I would take him in to see if there is something else going on

You will have to wait at least 24 hours before bathing Kiki so that the product has time to dry on her skin. You can touch her during this period, just avoid the place where you put the flea treatment, and wash your hands after touching her. I hope this helps!
