I just found a stray puppy with no collar. What should I do?

I would recommend to feed Royal Canin Puppy food. Its an easy to digest food that should be less likely to cause upset stomach. Wash her and make sure to pick off any fleas you see. If you decide to keep her, take her into a vet as soon as you can to get a deworming done and start vaccines if she is old enough. The doctor can also estimate her age. I hope this helps!

You may want to call around . I’m our area many practices will do a new pet exam at no fee, then you can schedule for vaccines and such for next week. If you don’t plan to keep the kitty you can take to the humane society or animal control. If the kitten seems bright and alert and healthy then waiting a week for an exam and vaccines is probably ok as well. Regardless you should have her scanned for a microchip as she may be lost and her family may be looking for her. Any veterinary hospital can do this at no charge. The vet will perform a thorough exam to make sure she is healthy, check her for a microchip (which is linked to a dog's owner), and will likely deworm her and give her some vaccines. Most dogs receive a rabies vaccine and combination vaccine that includes common viruses that dogs are exposed to. The vet will also walk you through monthly flea, tick, and heartworm control and likely be able to tell if Fifi is spayed and an estimate of her age. He looks pretty cute! It's hard to guess a puppy's breed from a couple pictures. It does look like he needs some care. His big belly may be caused by intestinal parasites, and he may have an infection or mange on his face (I can't see clearly). His coat is a little dull, but I am sure that would be a glossy brown after a few weeks of a good puppy food and a bath. I would recommend that you take him to the vet for a good checkup. They can test him for intestinal parasites and check for mange. They can also get him started on proper vaccinations to protect him against common puppy diseases.

This poor puppy! I would take him into your local SPCA. They can treat his fleas, take him into a vet for care, and can find a home for him when he's healthy. You can also see if there is a local dog rescue in your area to help you. I hope this helps!

If you can't keep her and don't know where the owners are (or they abandoned her) it is best to bring her to a local animal shelter for care. They can check for any microchips there (in case she was left behind on accident), provide any medical care as needed, and get her eating and drinking and healthy enough for adoption or to be returned to her original owners.
