My female dog in heat is being hurt by male dog. What can I do?

This is normal. If you don't want them to breed, you need to keep them separated. You may have to move one of the dogs to a friend or family member's house until the female is out of heat. I suggest you have them fixed as soon as possible. ( http://www.vospca.org/affordable-spay-neuter )

If you are unable to have one or both of the dogs spayed/neutered then you will have to be diligent about keeping them separated while the female is in heat. I would recommend keeping the female in the house and the male outside because if you leave the female outside there is a chance another male dog could mate her. I hope this helps. Thanks for sharing your toe, however since we aren't human doctors there isn't much that can be done for that and you should visit your regular doctor. That said, if this is linked to your dog being in heat, keeping the two separated during her heat cycle may help reduce the behavior and prevent a fight from breaking out. Having your female spayed may also help reduce the aggressive behavior if it is related to her heat cycle as she will no longer have them. If the behavior continues to escalate, keeping the two dogs apart and speaking with a trainer in person is best so that they can address the issue and provide a more tailored plan. Picking up and keeping any and all toys, etc removed during this as well as feeding the dogs separately may also help reduce the behavior as well.

It's best to have a vet evaluate your dog's injuries after flushing any wounds thoroughly with normal water. To prevent this fighting, you have two options: 1) Keep the dogs seperated 2) Get the dog spayed/neutered Otherwise the fighting will continue and there's really not much else you can do about it. Unfortunately male dogs can smell females in heat up to two miles away and they will try to break in. It is the responsibility of the owner of the male dog to keep him under control. I would call the police telling them that this stray dog is damaging your house and trying to get in and you need it moved as you are also afraid that it may attack you. I am not sure if they will do this, however since property damage is involved, they just might take the case.

This is not due to stress it is likely due to the hormones she is emitting and what Anakin is picking up on. Having her spayed should help with this problem but for now I would keep them separate if possible. I hope this helps! Are any other behaviors abnormal? Is he acting painful or sick? Maybe take him for a walk and see how he does away from the female. If you are still concerned that there may be a medical problem then I would recommend having him evaluated by a veterinarian.
