How much and how often should I feed my new 2-month-old puppy?

Getting our puppy in less than 2 days. Few days shy of 8 weeks. How much and how often should I feed him?

Congratulations on your new addition! At this age, you should be feeding him 3-4 times per day. The amount depends on the brand of food that you choose to feed. He should be eating puppy food, and if you check the bag, there will be a feeding chart, which will tell you the amount to feed for his weight. This amount is the total amount for the day, and you will want to divide that over the 3-4 meals that you feed him. Hope that helps!

The quantity of food would depend on the type of diet and her weight (usually it is best to follow instructions on the food label).
You can feed her three times daily up to six months and then reduce it to two times.

I would feed Mace according to the instructions on his puppy food bag label. Each food has a different requirement to feed daily. Take the daily recommend amount, and divide it into three equal meals. He should be fed three times daily (morning, noon, evening) until he is six months old when he can be fed twice a day.

Great question! At almost two months of age, Ooge is old enough to be fed a puppy formulated food. It has to be a puppy formulated food because puppies require higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog. A puppy food will provide everything he needs to grow properly. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. On the bag, there is a daily recommended amount of food, and I would divide that into three equal portions to feed him three times a day, once in the morning, noon, and evening. How many times a day should I feed my small 8-week-old puppy?

I understand how confusing it can be to read and obtain conflicting information. Since Wallace is only 2 months old and is so small, I generally recommend feeding at least 3-4 times per day. The purpose of more frequent feeding at a young age and small size is to maintain an adequate blood glucose (sugar) at all times. Very small, young dogs are at a risk of developing hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) that can lead to lethargy, weakness, or even seizures if they do not eat frequently. Continue feeding Wallace the same volume of food, but divide it into 3-4 meals per day rather than 2 for the next month or so. Around 5-6 months of age, you can decrease his feeding frequency to twice daily. Just remember to keep an eye on the chart that is found on your bag of food since the volume of food that Wallace will need will change as he gets older and larger. Determine how much to feed a puppy can certainly be quite confusing! I'm glad to hear that you are offering Bourbon food four times per day. In another month, you can decrease his feeding to three times a day, and eventually twice per day. The Royal Canin Maxi Starter food is great for growing puppies! By 2 months of age, Bourbon should be able to start chewing through dry kibble, so you can start to wean him off of the water soaked kibble over the next few weeks. Cerelac is not a necessary component of any dog's diet, so I would recommend stopping that and strictly feeding the balanced puppy food. Based upon the feeding guide for your puppy food, Bourbon should eat around 250 - 260 gm per day, meaning that he should eat around 60 - 65 gm per meal.
