My dog has weird poop. What's causing his unusual stool changes?

Your dog has most likely gotten into something that has caused her stool to be abnormal. I would keep an eye on her for now. If thenstool continues to be abnormal or if she starts vomiting and/or having liquidy stools I would take her to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps. It looks like Starky got into either some food that was yellow and bean-like, or that he ate something that is fibrous, as it almost looks like wool. Without being able to feel it to see how it breaks apart it is hard to tell from the picture. You could bring the feces to the vet to have them look at it, however if Starky is doing well, I would just monitor his feces for now, and make sure he isn't vomiting. Best of luck with Starky!

The good news is that these yellow dots don't look like any intestinal parasite that's visible with the naked eye. My best guess is that your dog recently ate something relatively fibrous, like plant material, rice, or another vegetable that passed through the stool reasonably unchanged. As long as your dog isn't experiencing any changes in their appetite or energy level, or any vomiting, then I don't see any cause for concern. If this continues, you can always ask your vet to submit a stool sample to a reference lab for further evaluation.

A change in food can sometimes cause the stool to change color slightly or become loser, however you did mention it was the same food, just a new bag. Checking to see if there were any ingredient changes between bags may alert you to a cause. A bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may also help with any minor GI upset while transitioning food. Other issues can include GI upset, parasites, illness, food allergies, etc, so if the problem does not resolve bringing in Joey along with a stool sample to your vet can help rule out some of these other issues and narrow down the cause.

This looks like Bear has soft stool, close to diarrhea. The red color could be caused by the color of his dogfood, but it could also be a little blood. If Bear is happy, does not appear ill, lethargic , eats and drinks you can do the following: Diarrhea can have many causes such as a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc.  I would fast Bear for 24 hours and then put him on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or he starts vomiting, or if Bear gets lethargic, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

However, if this does not resolve or progresses to watery diarrhea, a veterinary evaluation should be pursued. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Pepper evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I'm sorry to hear that Bullet is having trouble with his bowel movements. There are some reasons that he would have mucoid/yellow colored diarrhea. He could have dietary indiscretion causing gastroenteritis (eating something that didn't agree with him), intestinal parasites or something more systemic. If your dog is not eating, acting lethargic and having diarrhea or anything else concerning, I would take him to your veterinarian to get a full check up. If your dog is eating and doing well otherwise, you can try some supportive care at home such as a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice) and see if his stools become more normal. If so, you can continue the diet for 2-3 days and slowly transition him back to his normal food. If he does not get better, I recommend taking him to your veterinarian.
