Why does my dog keep getting yellow crusty gunk around his eye?

  It sounds like conjunctivitis is possible, which can be caused by an infection (pinkeye) or allergies. A corneal ulcer or scratch could cause redness and a similar discharge. I would recommend seeing your vet for an exam - they may want to stain Felix’s eye to look for a scratch. They can then prescribe a topical eye medication to help.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Athina evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

  Yes, it could be that Fadden has an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Fadden into a vet now, who can diagnose that he does have an eye infection and can treat him for it.
