Why does my dog have white spots on his nose after lawn fertilizer?

Trauma from playing is possible, but some bacterial or fungal infections can look similar. If the spots aren’t improving in a week or if they seems to be getting larger I’d recommend having Dublin examined by your vet.

Those two spots look like ingrown hairs or perhaps infected pores. Generally these lesions are benign and will go away on their own. You can try washing them daily and rinsing them well or your vet may carry some medicated wipes. Because they are on the muzzle topical ointments generally aren’t a good idea as the dogs will lick them off. Make sure to keep the food bowls cleaned on a weekly basis as well as any chew toys. This does look like a skin infection, but we cannot say whether it is bacterial or fungal. Your veterinarian may be able to tell with a quick exam and looking at the area with a special light that can diagnose ringworm fungal infections. In either case, this will be best treated with an oral medication....either antibiotic or antifungal. It is usually unrewarding to try to treat a lesion in this location topically because the dog will usually lick any cream or ointment right off. Good work on the Bravecto as well. f the skin under the fur is red, itchy, or scabbed, this could be a sign of an underlying skin problem or infection. If the skin is otherwise fine, this could be a case of vitiglio, which causes benign patches of color loss. I'd consult with Fedro's veterinarian if you're concerned.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. From the pictures I can see that the skin has darkened in the area around the mouth. It is common to have some hair loss at the elbow since this is a pressure point and bigger dogs lay down on this part of the leg quite a bit. Many times I will see callus formation near the elbow as well. As for the mouth and the crusted discharge you saw, it could be a bacterial skin infection or fungal as well. I typically recommend using malacetic conditioning spray and apply this 2-3 times per day until resolved. If there is no improvement then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this for further testing and treatment recommendations.

This presentation could be due to a localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics/or antifungal medications (oral or topical ) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine solutions. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any). From the photos it appears that the lesion is affecting both the mucosa of his nose and also his skin. This could be some sort of deep bacterial infection or perhaps something like ringworm (which humans can get). It is also very concerning however for an autoimmune condition. I recommend to have a Bosco visit his veterinarian with in the next day for an exam. The doctor may try treatment or testing for an infection. The doctor may also recommend a biopsy.
