My dog has a growing white bump under her skin. When to see vet?

As long as she is otherwise acting ok, it is not growing rapidly, and/or has a discharge then you could wait and take her this weekend. Your vet can do a needle aspirate to help determine the cause and determine if the lump needs to be removed or treated.

Thank you for providing a picture of the bump on your cat, it's very helpful! It could simply be a benign growth, as it looks like it could be one in your picture, but unfortunately I cannot make the determination for sure without seeing him in person and doing tests on it. It is a bit concerning that it has grown up to 4x in size and is bleeding. It could be bleeding because he is scratching at it, but again I don't know unless I see him in person. Due to the fact it has grown in size and is bleeding for some reason, then yes I do think this is concerning enough to see the vet. It would be good to get the exact diagnosis of the bump; in addition, your cat is 10, which means he's a senior cat, and there is always a risk that any bump in a senior cat could be malignant. You may not need to do anything about it. It could simply be a benign tumor and it won't need to be removed unless it's bothering Beau or becomes bigger. I would have it checked out by a vet to be safe, as there is always a chance any bump could be a malignant tumor in a senior dog. I would have him seen by a vet sometime over the next week. I would recommend having this evaluated fairly soon. It could be a swollen lymph node or abscess or tumor of some sort. The vet can do a needle aspirate of the lump to look at cells and determine what it may be or if it's of concern. Because some tumors can grow quickly it's always better to have lumps evaluated fairly quickly to make sure it's not malignant.

It's hard to tell the size but it looks like it may be a benign wart or growth. It appears to be more on the surface of the skin which is good, and it is well defined. Cats do get malignant skin growths so it is a good idea to have your veterinarian examine it and feel underneath also. They can easily remove this if necessary and do a biopsy. That looks like a mild skin infection of some kind. I would keep an eye on it and get it looked after by your vet if it doesn't improve in a day or two or gets worse. They'll do a physical exam, check the lesions, maybe look at some of the material from the bumps under the microscope to see if they can identify the cause and, based on these results, be better able to recommend a treatment plan.

This appears to be a small cystic nodule, probably not cancerous, but all lumps & bumps should be evaluated by your veterinarian. A small sample taken with a very small needle can be examined under a microscope to see if there is anything to be worried about. You can watch this for a while, but if it suddenly should enlarge, please have it looked at. Take care.
