Should I be concerned about a white bump on my cat's shoulder blade?

It's hard to tell the size but it looks like it may be a benign wart or growth. It appears to be more on the surface of the skin which is good, and it is well defined. Cats do get malignant skin growths so it is a good idea to have your veterinarian examine it and feel underneath also. They can easily remove this if necessary and do a biopsy. It does not look immediately like a bump I would be worried about, unfortunately the only way to tell is by looking at it closely and potentially obtaining a sample from it. That bump looks small enough that i may be able to be removed with local anesthesia. You should have your veterinarian evaluate it and determined if they recommend having it removed. Alternatively, you can continue to monitor the lump as long as it is not bothering Pearly, and have it assessed if you note any changes in size or if it becomes open or starts to produce discharge. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. This may be a reaction to a vaccine if administered recently that should disappear with time.
