My dog's vulva is wet, she licks often, and vomits. Is it a UTI?

I would suspect either a urinary tract infection or vaginitis, either way she will likely need a course of antibiotics in order to resolve this, i recommend taking her to your vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

Hi. Poor wick. It sounds like she has either a UTI, or a vaginitis going on. Both are very treatable. I would call your veterinarian for an appointment for an exam and urinalysis. I would also check kidney enzymes to make sure those are healthy too. Good luck

This behavior is very common with UTI, but could also be caused by urinary bladder stones, kidney disease, and a few other things. I would recommend that you have Ruby examined by a vet. A urinalysis and x-rays of the bladder to check for stones are the first step.

This does need to be checked out by a vet; however, if she is no longer vomiting, is still eating and drinking, does not have diarrhea, and isn't lethargic, then it's fine to wait until your regular vet is back on. Horrible odors are usually caused by bacterial infections. So when Macie licks her vulva, she is massaging secretions out which should be odorless. It appears she has a bacterial infection since there is a smell. She could be suffering from a vaginal infection or a UTI, Peeing in the house and straining are cardinal signs of a UTI.I suggest you take her to your vet for an exam. Bring fresh urine (you can catch it with a kitchen ladle) or do not take her out to pee before you go to the vet, as the vet will need urine to examine. Macie will need antibiotics for at least 10 days, sometimes longer,

I would be worried this is a UTI, and no you cannot purchase medication without seeing a vet. Coco needs antibiotics if she has one, and that is available by prescription only from a vet. I would not monitor her for a day, UTIs are painful and uncomfortable to dogs. Please take her into a vet in the morning.

Poor Penny! It's good that you're planning to take her to the vet in the morning, as it sounds like she probably needs some medication to treat her vomiting and diarrhea, antibiotics for her UTI, and possibly IV fluids if she's dehydrated. In the meantime, you can certainly give her fluids by mouth if you're able to. You can carefully give her water with a syringe if you have one handy, as long as you're careful to go slowly and make sure that she swallows, to prevent her from choking or getting water in her lungs. You can also try offering her some low-sodium chicken or beef broth to see if this might encourage her to drink on her own.
