Why is my dog vomiting and not pooping after diatomaceous earth?

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Your puppy has very vague symptoms of vomiting which can mean she has an upset stomach. I believe I see milk in the bowl you have in the picture there. If that is the case I would stop giving that right away. Domino is more than old enough not to still be getting puppy milk. If she continues to vomit after stopping the milk, then it's best to take her to your vet for a full examination and possible testing to determine why she is vomiting so that we know how to best help her. Also I would recommend bathing her in Dawn dish detergent to strip all the fleas off her for now. Make sure not to get any in her eyes and follow up with an oatmeal based or aloe based shampoo and conditioner to prevent her skin from getting too dry. She is old enough for Revolution topical flea and heartworm preventative from your local vet, so I would recommend getting her hat to protect her from the fleas here moving forward. This can set off a bacterial imbalance in her gastrointestinal tract resulting in vomiting and diarrhea. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian today to see if this is the case. With this much vomiting I would be worried about the possibility of Penelope eating something she shouldn't have, such as a toy or other foreign material, which could have caused a blockage or obstruction of her intestines. The topical flea and tick medication should not cause her to vomit. I recommend offering Penelope a small amount of boiled chicken and rice, and see if she tolerates this. If she vomits this up and/or cannot even keep water down, she should be seen by your veterinarian for x-rays. If she can eat a small amount of this bland diet, I recommend feeding this boiled chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days and slowly transitioning her back to her usual diet. I hope this is helpful!

I would recommend that you have Dahlia examined by a vet. Poor appetite and vomiting are not likely related to vaccines administered 3 weeks ago. There can be lots of causes for this, such as dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. The vet will do a thorough examination and may recommend diagnostics such as x-rays or bloodwork.

She may have parvo (if she isn't fully vaccinated), an intestinal obstruction due to something she ate, or may have ingested something toxic. I'm afraid a dewormer isn't likely to help her at all - she really needs to be seen by a vet right away. If cost is a concern, you may be able to find a low-cost SPCA clinic in your area that could help. You can also try calling your local shelter to see if they have any resources to assist pet owners with veterinary emergencies or urgent care.

If she seems to be doing better now and the vomiting has resolved, it should be fine to continue with the current plan of giving her small amounts of i/d for the next 2-3 days before gradually switching back to her regular diet. If she's still vomiting despite the Pepcid and bland diet, then I would say she definitely needs a vet visit at this point to determine what is causing her symptoms. She may have an intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, or some type of systemic illness like liver or kidney disease.
