My dog is vomiting all day. Could it be parasites again, what to do?

Hi there! Unfortunately, if she's vomiting and not eating, this isn't likely to be caused by parasites - these are normally signs of a more serious illness. She may have parvo (if she isn't fully vaccinated), an intestinal obstruction due to something she ate, or may have ingested something toxic. I'm afraid a dewormer isn't likely to help her at all - she really needs to be seen by a vet right away. I'm sorry Athena is so sick! Yes, I would be concerned that not being able to keep down water is an indication of something worse, such as cancer which is always possible in a senior dog. It could also be an indication that her kidney disease is getting worseI would definitely take her back into a vet immediately. It's very serious when a dog with kidney disease cannot keep down water, as that will quickly lead to dehydration and damage to her kidneys. She needs IV fluids to prevent dehydration and testing to diagnose what is causing her vomiting. I'm not sure what testing was done, but I'm assuming blood work was done if her liver values were not not elevated. An abdominal x-ray may be called for in this case, but the vet can decide what tests would be best. Regardless, dehydration has to be avoided at all costs, so take Athena back into the vet right away.

While a heavy parasite load can cause severe GI upset, and anemia which can cause a pup to become extremely lethargic, have bloody diarrhea, etc, I would also want to rule out underlying illnesses as a possibility. It would be best to bring them to a vet ASAP especially if they are lethargic or unable to keep any food or water down as puppies can quickly become very dehydrated. They may also need supportive care such as an IV or injected medications if they are very ill from the parasites or other causes. You can try continuing to offer water, or rubbing a little honey on their gums for energy until you can get to the vet, however due to the severity of symptoms it would be best to seek emergency care.

Congrats on your nephew's new puppy, but I'm sorry that Mia is sick! While puppies can have reactions to deworming treatments such as vomiting, dewormers are typically very safe. An allergic reaction to a deworming medication would be very rare. In addition, it should not still be sick from the deworming treatment days afterwards. To me, that suggests there could be something more wrong with her. Given her age, she won't be fully vaccinated, and one of the diseases I would be most concerned about is parvovirus. This is a very deadly disease of unvaccinated dogs, and it's extremely contagious. This causes vomiting, and dehydration from this vomiting will occur especially if she can't keep down water. Dehydration is the number one cause of death in these puppies. Because I can't see her in person to rule out parvovirus or another cause of the vomiting such as a GI illness, eating something rotten, or a foreign body, I do think having her seen by a vet now is for the best. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hi, I'm worried if Zoey is still weak and vomiting. Young pups don't have much in reserve so if they stop eating they can deteriorate very quickly. It could be related to the de worming medicine if she had a lot of worms that died quickly, or she may have an illness like parvo, giardia or coccdia. If she's not eaten today, take her to the emergency vet tonight. If she's eaten some and is still walking about, take her in the morning.

The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Luna reevaluated since she has not improved to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings.
