Dog recovering from vomiting, still lethargic. Is a vet visit needed?

Poor Rosco sounds very ill at the moment, and unfortunately without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. He could have liver failure, kidney failure, a systemic illness, or even cancer among other causes. The only way to know for certain is to have him seen by a vet, and based on the symptoms you described, he should see a vet immediately. I would consider this an emergency. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Good luck!

However, regardless of what caused these symptoms, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her. She may be dehydrated and in need of fluids, which the veterinarian can evaluate her for. Hi there, I’m sorry Reynold isn’t feeling well. The symptoms you describe are pretty non- specific and can be attributed to many different problems. However, if he is acting uncomfortable, then I do think having him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible would be the safest situation. Based on their physical examination findings they may recommend an x-ray or possibly blood work to help define the diagnosis and treatment plan. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.!! If he is getting worse despite treatment he may need to be seen again for more testing to determine the underlying illness so that he gets appropriate treatment. I didn't see where you mentioned what his diagnosis was, and he name if the injectable medicine that he was given didn't come through in your post. Give him at least 24 hrs to see if he improves. However if you ever notice pale gums, continuous heavy panting, unresponsiveness, or unexplained bruising on his body, then he should seek veterinary attention immediately. Given the lack of clinical signs besides lethargy and inappetence, there is not much else to go on here. I would consider obtaining a rectal thermometer tomorow and checking for a fever (above 102.5), which might suggest the presence of an infection or inflammation. If you detect a fever, I would definitely suggest getting Rusty to the vet sometime soon. If there is no fever, but his condition does not get better by Monday he should be taken in for an examination regardless. You can certainly try and feed Rusty something that would normally be considering irresistible just to see if he will accept it, rather than just his normal dog food. Anyway, hope this helps and that Rusty is feeling better soon. It is entirely possible that he might just feeling a little under the weather or maybe could have eaten something he shouldn't have that upset his stomach. If this is the case, the symptoms should pass with short time.

He may not be eating due to dietary indiscretion from eating the bird or mouse or it could even be due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. I am afraid that if he is not drinking water he may be becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and most importantly start him on medications to make him feel better. I am sorry to hear about Cora! I would recommend bringing her in to her vet for an exam. There are a huge number of things that can cause lethargy in dogs. Your vet can take a more detailed history and do a physical exam which may help guide them in recommendations which will likely include bloodwork to check for things like liver and kidney disease, infection, cancer, and anemia. They may also recommend x-rays depending on their findings.
