My dog is sick: vomiting, diarrhea, lethargic. Is it a blockage?

I would get Sammi seen by your vet to make sure she has emptied out all the palm nuts she ingested and hasn't done herself any lasting damage. Your vet will do an exam, palpate her belly, maybe suggest x-rays to see if she's empty, just to be safe. If she is eating these nuts without you realizing it, you may need to find a way to prevent her from doing this in the future, either by keeping her on a leash at all times when outside, or by getting a cage muzzle to keep her from picking up and swallowing anything while she is outside unsupervised. A cage muzzle will allow her to bark, pant, drink water from a bowl, but will keep her from picking up and swallowing small objects.

I am sorry to hear about Sam. It sounds like he is not feeling well at all. There are many different possible causes of vomiting in dogs. Some of the most common include ingestion of foreign objects, pancreatitis, ingestion of toxins, gastroenteritis, and more. Unfortunately, all the signs you have listed are considered "non-specific" meaning these are common signs associated with many different diseases. The most life-threatening and urgent case would be if a puppy was not delivered and has been dead inside her. This can lead to signs life this followed by shock and death. As such, if you are not sure how many puppies she was carrying (via a previous x-ray), I'd see an emergency vet immediately to confirm that all of them are out. If not, emergency stabilization and/or surgery will be needed. Several other things coming to mind include: mastitis (mammary tissue infection/inflammation), bacterial or viral infection, parasites, intestinal obstruction (if she is known to eat things), and more. Regardless of what the underlying cause it, Sam is losing alot of her body fluid through milk and will quickly become seriously dehydrated if she is not drinking. I am very concerned about Pilly, it sounds like he has a very upset stomach! My top concern would be a blockage in his intestines caused by something that he ate, like a toy, bone, sock, trash, etc. This would also prevent food from moving through his system and turning into feces. Other possibilities include bacterial or viral infection, intestinal parasites, or other internal issue. I recommend that Pilly see a vet as soon as possible. Your vet will probably recommend x-rays and maybe even blood work depending on what they discover during the physical exam.

However, if she is not back to normal in a few days, then she would need to be seen by her primary veterinarian. Possibilites may include an upper respiratory tract infection, a GI upset, or a urinary tract infection. More severely causes for her signs include liver disease, pancreatitis, or even kidney disease. These however is typically accompanied by other clinical signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and severe lethargy. If Sammy develops any of the above or if she is not back to her normal self within 3-5 days, then she should be evaluated by her veterinarian. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Poor girl. Dolly sounds like she has a severe illness going on. She could potentially even have pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas that is more common in smaller breed dogs. I would highly recommend getting her seen by your vet asap for a pancreatitis test and bloodwork to get an overall health assessment so that we know what medication she needs specifically to get her feeling better. When pets are ill, it is almost impossible to force them to eat, especially if they are nauseous, so it's imperative to get her seen right away. If you are not able to get her in today, then you can offer her some boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese, but it is best to get her seen quickly so that her condition doesn't get any worse. It is possible to be related if it is a partial blockage in the stomach and it is floating around. But it may be unrelated as he could have a viral/bacterial infection that can cause similar symptoms. If the vomiting persist or bloody diarrhea occurs, then bring him to your vet for blood work and x rays to make sure.
