My dog is sick with vomiting, diarrhea, and angry after a bath. Help!

It definitely sounds like something is going on with Phoebe. The vomiting and diarrhea are very vague signs and could indicate several different diseases that could be going on. Based on your description of what is going on I would be suspicious of a viral infection in Phoebe or she may have gotten several treats that she isn't used to while at the groomer that have now upset her tummy. I would recommend withholding food for the next 12-24 hours. If she is still sick after fasting then she needs to go to the vet. She may need blood work and/or X-rays performed and your vet may recommend fluid therapy if she has become dehydrated. Your vet can also prescribe some nausea medication to help stop the vomiting and antibiotics and a probiotic to clear up the diarrhea. I hope Phoebe is back to herself soon!

I'd worry that Hugo may have aspirated water during the bath. It's also possible that the bath was unrelated and that he ingested something, or that he has a neurologic problem. I'd recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible for an exam and blood work, and potentially x-rays as well.

Hello, sorry to hear about Anya. Most GI sings of diarrhea may resolve with a bland diet of plain white rice, skinless and boneless chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. However, other more severe causes of this such as liver or kidney disease, inflammation of the bowel, and ingestion of foreign material may will require that your veterinarian examine Anya. If she develops persistent vomiting or diarrhea then I would recommend having her evaluated by her primary care veterinarian as she may need bloodwork and x-rays to be prescribed the adequate medications. In the interim, monitor her for persistent vomiting (more than 3 episodes in 1 day), diarrhea with blood, severe lethargy, or loss of appetite and contact your veterinarian if you note any. Hi Nick! I would definitely take them both into a vet now. It's quite concerning your dog has been throwing up and is lethargic for two days, and now has diarrhea and no appetite. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kairi. She may have been stressed by her change in environment while you were out of town. This can set off a bacterial imbalance in her gastrointestinal tract resulting in vomiting and diarrhea. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian today to see if this is the case. She will likely require fecal testing and some form of treatment depending on these results and her exam findings. She may receive an antibiotic, an anti-nausea medication and possibly fluid therapy. Yes, any pet that has persistent signs especially vomiting and diarrhea should be evaluated immediately. Once dehydration and electrolyte imbalance develop, they will just continue to get weaker and weaker unless treated. Reasons for vomiting/diarrhea are many and range from intestinal problems or problems with other organs in the body causing the signs. Intestinal worms, dietary indiscretion (eating things she is not supposed to eat), dietary intolerance/sensitivity, a foreign body (especially in younger dogs), infection, inflammation, toxins, pancreatitis, kidney/liver problems, etc. Your vet can do a physical exam and some tests which could include a fecal exam, blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc. to try to determine what is causing the problem. Once a diagnosis is made they will advise a treatment plan to address the issue. Your vet can also address the itching of her muzzle and whining which may or may not be related. I hope this is just temporary and it resolves quickly for you and Moka.

The vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite may have another medical cause such as an infection from a virus or bacteria or perhaps a parasite. I would recommend Nami see her veterinarian for an exam and evaluation soon. Your veterinarian may want to test Nami's stool or run blood work or x-rays to help determine a cause so she can get appropriately treated.
