Dog sick after grooming: shaking, bumps, vomiting, diarrhea. What to do?

Poor Lilly sounds like she isn't feeling well! The shaking can be due to pain and feeling unwell. There are a couple of things this could be including a GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or a pyometra. Dogs who aren't spayed are prone to developing these infections of the uterus which are fatal without treatment. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, her abdomen becomes enlarged, you notice a smelly discharge from her vulva, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If she does have a pyometra, that is a medical emergency and spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Leaving it untreated is fatal. If you do have concerns that she could have a pyometra, I'd recommend taking her into a vet to be safe. I hope this helps!

Dogs can sometimes get growly when they do not feel well. The question is why does she not feel well and what is making her vomit. There are numerous reasons for vomiting including ingestion of a foreign body, pancreatitis, viral or bacterial infections, liver or kidney disease, and more. I recommend a trip to your veterinarian where they can perform radiographs (x-rays) of the abdomen to check for signs of obstruction, and lab tests to rule out other causes of nausea. I would recommend taking Pups to the vet. These symptoms are very concerning, and probably not related to her mammary nodule. It could be dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. The straining and liquid is likely severe diarrhea - similar to humans, you can strain with diarrhea and have nothing come out. The vet will do a thorough exam and may recommend blood work or x-rays to determine what is going on.

It sounds as Fify is suffering from a serious gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need to have an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If she gets stressed out about being groomed it could be just a stress colitis. If she seems fine otherwise, withhold food for 12-24 hours, but let her have water. At the end of 12-24 hours, give her a very small amount of her regular food. If all goes well, give her a little more 30-45 minutes later, continue this way until she has had her normal meal amount. If the diarrhea continues, or if she starts vomiting, becomes lethargic, refuses food or shows any other adverse symptoms, get her in to see your vet as soon as possible.
