My dog vomited blood and has pancreatitis. What can I do at home?

Poor San! He could have vomited due to a GI illness, eating something rotten, a sudden change in diet, being given food he's never had before, intestinal worms, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. He should stay in the hospital as long as possible on IV fluids/medications. Sometimes it takes a week or longer before they start getting better. Was an abdominal ultrasound done? That would be a good idea. He should be held off food until he is better. At the hospital the vet can feed him nutritionally through the IV catheter with something called TPN. He should be given food orally. This would be my suggestions. Pancreatitis cannot really be treated at home.

The most important thing is how she seems to feel- returning energy, interest in food, water and moving around on her own are all good signs! This is very concerning. Your aunt's dog could be suffering from a severe gastro-intestinal infection or condition such as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. This can be life threatening. This dog urgently needs to be seen at a petER tonight, will likely need iv fluids, pain medicine and definitely antibiotics as he is bleeding from his intestine. Please advise your aunt to take Jackie to a petER. I am afraid there is no home remedy.
