Is puppy vomiting a side effect of amoxicillin for ear infection?

If Bella just started vomiting since starting the Amoxicillin, I would stop giving her the medication and schedule a recheck with your vet. She likely is just sensitive to this medication and will do fine on another one. Try offering her something easily digestible to eat like plain boiled chicken and rice. It may be the antibiotic or it could be discomfort associated with the pancreatitis. Report the vomiting to your veterinarian and consider a recheck exam. Your veterinarian may dispense an anti emetic to control vomiting as well as pain management.

Vomiting can be caused by many different conditions including gastritis (upset stomach from eating something like garbage, raw food, bones, or dead animals in the park, etc.), pancreatitis, obstructions in the gut, as well as kidney/liver/metabolic diseases. Very often amoxicillin will do nothing to help the vomiting, and can make it worse as antiboitics are hard on the guts. I recommend feeding a bland diet of boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breast and boiled rice in small frequent meals (4-6 meals a day of 1/2 cup size meals). If the vomiting continues, or if Mui is lethargic or weak, then I would see a vet right away. If the vomiting stops and she is eating and acting normally then she is likely OK. I would not give any amoxicillin. Best of luck with Mui.

Ear infections are usually treated with an antibiotic ointment that is placed directly in the ear and left in the ear to work in between cleanings. A typical schedule of cleanings include cleaning out the affected ear every twelve hours, placing the ointment in the ear, massaging and letting it set. This continues for a period of 7-10 days to completely clear the infection. There are some OTC ear infection ointments available but it is likely you will need to visit your vet for a prescription version. Amoxicillin is a general antibiotic and is more common in other infections such as skin or minor internal infections. It is best to check with your vet to see if it is appropriate for your dog's type of ear infection rather than just giving it. Giving the wrong medication or wrong dosage for the problem can actually make it worse, or even make your dog very ill.

It is possible that these symptoms are unrelated to the antibiotics, but you definitely did the right thing by stopping to give them to her. You can monitor her throughout the night, and offer water only. If you are concerned that Stormy is getting worse throughout the night, you can have her evaluated by an emergency vet. It may take several days to see improvement after starting medications. If your dog is extremely uncomfortable due to inflammation in the ear, you may ask your vet if an anti-inflammatory drug such as a steroid or NSAID can be prescribed to help with the discomfort until the ear antibiotic kicks in. If you haven't seen improvement and several days have passed, it is possible a resistant bacteria is growing in the ear and you may need a different medication.

I would strongly recommend taking her right away back to your vet, antibiotics alone are definitely not enough when a dog is vomiting, she needs an injection to stop the vomiting to start with, otherwise no oral medications can be given. cephlaxin is also known for increasing vomiting, she needs a different antibiotic such as Metrogyl or Amoxicillin. i would also recommend a blood test at the very least.
