My active dog vomits a little in the afternoon. Is that normal?

It is difficult to tell you exactly the reason of the vomiting episode. What I can tell you is that in puppies the most common reasons for it are related to diet and to gastrointestinal infections/parasite infestations. Chronic vomiting is dangerous because it can lead to dehydration and severe secondary complications in puppies. Make sure your new gsd is regularly vaccinated and dewormed.

But, if it is a continual thing or vomiting is happening when the dog is not so worked up, please see your vet for some diagnostics. Vomiting can happen for a multitude of reasons. Eating a new item, overindulgence, or eating something disagreeable in the yard are all possible. If he is back to normal today with good appetite, energy, and no more vomiting I would just continue to monitor him.

If Toby has only thrown up 1 maybe 2 times but is still eating,drinking and playing normally I would continue to monitor his behavior . If at anytime he starts vomiting more, acting lethargic, having diarrhea or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet as soon as possible. It is possible that Toby ate something he should not or even had a mild upset stomach that caused him to get sick. IF he is acting normally but continues to occasionally vomit I would recommend switching his dog food because sometimes vomiting can be secondary to a food allergy. I hope that helps

It is not that unusual for a puppy to be sick, especially if he has been running around and eaten recently. As long as the pup seems in goid form I wouldnt worry too much. However if he seems dull or continues to vomit then a trip to the vet would be wise.

I would recommend having Beamer evaluated by a vet. It's not normal to have vomiting and/or regurgitation regularly, and that extra acid in the stomach could lead to problems in the future. Your vet may want to do x-rays or other diagnostics to check for megaesophagus or other issues with the esophagus and stomach. They may recommend antacids, a different type of food, or a hypoallergenic diet.
