Why does my dog vomit after morning exercise? Is it chronic?

Yes, this can happen, especially if they just ate Right before hand. But, if it is a continual thing or vomiting is happening when the dog is not so worked up, please see your vet for some diagnostics. Try not to feed the dog right before a stressful event or before a big run. Bloating can be a problem is they eat and run too much, especially if they drink a lot of water.

Poor girl. She may have a condition that is causing this such as megaesophagus. I am not sure if your vet has ran any tests yet, but I would recommend starting with thoracic radiographs and perhaps even a barium series will need to be done to detect a possible megaesophagus. Form there the vet will prescribe medication if this conditon is confirmed. The main concern with a pet that regurgitates is aspiration pneumonia. This is why they suggest to elevate the food bowl to allow gravity to help keep the food down. However most owners have to make a gruel (water mixed with food and then puréed) and also give pro-motility drugs (i.e. Metoclopramide) in addition to help manage this condition. I don't know if this happens every time after eating or rarely. It is not common to vomit with exercise every time after he eats. If that is the case I'd have him looked at by your Veterinarian. Things to try: Do not allow him to play after eating for 45 mins. Just keep him calm. Allow time for him to digest his meals. Chronic vomiting in dogs is pretty concerning and can be caused by gastritis, ulcers, foreign body obstructions, pancreatitis, and intestinal parasites. Other internal issues, for example kidney or liver disease, can make dogs nauseous as well. Sometimes, dogs will vomit yellowish liquid if they re extremely hungry and anticipating their meal. You can try feeding Urban a little later at night to see if this helps (this only applies if he eats meals rather than picking throughout the day). If Dakota is still experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea, she should be evaluated by her veterinarian. If a dog gets excited or worked up with play time or exercise, a small amount of diarrhea is common. However, it should resolve and there typically isn't vomiting. Good job on holding her off on dinner. Sometimes resting the GI tract can help resolve the vomiting and diarrhea. It is fine for a dog her size to go up to 24 hours without food, but always provide water so she doesn't get dehydrated. She may need fecal testing to rule out intestinal parasite or potentially bloodwork if the doctor suspects a more systemic problem. If she has abdominal pain, then x-rays will likely be warranted. This could be due to acid reflux. You can try an over the counter acid reflux medication. If this does not help then I recommend you have Riley examined by your veterinarian for diagnostics and recommended treatment.

It can be normal for dogs to vomit occasionally. You should be concerned if your dog continues to vomit and can't stop. You should also watch for other symptoms like diarrhea. If your dog continues to decline, I would suggest a Vet asap. However, if this was a one time thing and your dog seems fine, it could just be that your dog had an upset tummy, or was too active and just vomited. It happens!
