My dog vomited after Bravecto. Is it a side effect? Do I need to redose?

Bravecto has a wide margin of safety and I don’t think there would be an issue. I would recommend calling the company at the number listed on the box - they should have people available to answer questions like this. Hello. It sounds like Charlie was given Capstar & Bravecto. However, if they were administered on the 28th, the Capstar was out of his system after 24 hours. Vomiting & loss of appetite are the 2 most common signs of the Bravecto, but it is still an extremely safe medication. So I am not sure we can blame it on the flea medications after this much time. If the vomiting has just started, withhold all food for at least 8-12 hours, & only allow small amounts of water, preferably as ice cubes. Restart food using 25% cooked chicken & 75% white rice when the vomiting has stopped. Give very small meals frequently rather than 1 or 2 big meals. If Charley seems comfortable, transition back to his regular diet after about 1 day or so. If your dog vomited more than an hour after the medication was given it is probably OK and in his system. However, if the dog vomited before an hour had passed then you will need to redose your dog with another round of dewormer. This medication is very safe and redosing should not cause a problem. It could be the Tablet (is it Bravecto by any chance?) i have seen it happening before. withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.

With this much vomiting I would be worried about the possibility of Penelope eating something she shouldn't have, such as a toy or other foreign material, which could have caused a blockage or obstruction of her intestines. The topical flea and tick medication should not cause her to vomit. I recommend offering Penelope a small amount of boiled chicken and rice, and see if she tolerates this. If she vomits this up and/or cannot even keep water down, she should be seen by your veterinarian for x-rays. If she can eat a small amount of this bland diet, I recommend feeding this boiled chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days and slowly transitioning her back to her usual diet. I hope this is helpful!

IF they vomited within an hour of the medication, then the medicine did not digest to work for them. This is the most common side effect of Comfortis and seems to be so often, I have quit recommending it. I have had great success with flea control and no vomiting side effects by using Nexgard for monthly or Bravecto given every 3 months. I would recommend changing products and if redosing them immediately if they vomited under an hour of getting the Comfortis.

Poor Gus, Bugzy, and Charlie! You can see some vomiting as a side effect of a deworming treatment. Give them a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice to see if that helps them. Feed it for a couple of days, and then slowly add back in their normal diet. If the vomiting continues on the bland diet, they stop eating, and/or become very lethargic, I would take them into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
