My dog takes Vitofyllin 50mg. Is her dosage correct for her weight?

I am not sure what your pets weight is, but this medication is given at a dosage of 1-2 mg/kg and as high as 3mg/kg daily dosage can be given to pets. I also don’t know what mg dosage your pets Lovan is, since this medication comes in about 3 different dosages. 1 lb=2.2 kg’s. So a 20 lb dog can take around 30 mg of medication daily. As far as toxicity is concerned, around 15.9mg/kg daily dosage can lead to toxicity in dogs. I hope this helps. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The dose of Vetmedin is 0.25mg/kg twice daily. So for a 10 lb dog I would prescribe the 1.25mg tablet to give every 12 hours. I would go to 1/2 of a 1.25 mg twice daily around 6-7 lbs. I hope this helps!

A single dose of this size of Vetoryl will likely pose no serious risk of toxicity. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea or loss of appetite. See your veterinarian if any of these symptoms develop.

The usual levothyroxine dose for dogs is 0.1 mg/10 pounds so for your dog the correct dose would be 0.5mg, so the pharmacy mislabeled it, or gave you the wrong dose. I would contact them to correct it so your dog gets an adequate dose of his medication.

Hello. I wonder if perhaps the labels were mixed up. Normally, Doxycycline would be prescribed at 5-10 mg/kg ( 136-272 mg ) every 12 - 24 hours & the niacinamide 500 mg every 8 hours. Now if your vet actually sent home tetracycline, then the dose would be 500 mg every 8 hours. But if the Doxycycline was substituted for the Tetracycline, then the total dose should be less. 25mg of Vetprofen is a large dose for such a small dog. Recommended dosing is usually 12.5mg for a dog his size. I do not know how much medication he has already received at your vet but signs of toxicity usually occur with >20mg/kg doses. Basil could develop gastrointestinal signs including vomiting, GI bleeding, and diarrhea. He should be watched closely and he should not receive another dose for 24 hours or longer if signs of illness occur.

A kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds. If I am reading your question correctly, you both gave 1.25 mg to your dog this morning. That is the total daily dose recommended for a dog your size. Even though the dosage should be divided into two doses given approximately 12 hours apart, it is absolutely fine in this situation that the entire daily dosage was given once. So, no, you have no reason to be concerned with what happened this morning. Your dog should be absolutely fine. Please do not give any doses for the rest of the day and tomorrow morning, go back to your regular 1/2 tablet every 12 hours dosing schedule. I hope I have given you the information you needed.
