My dog ate another dog's Vetoryl medication. Do I need to worry?

He may develop some stomach upset. Monitor for rapid heart rate, panting and restlessness or hyperactivity. It is unlikely that this will cause any damage or side effects. T4 hormone will be temporarily suppressed, without any noticeable side effects. I recommend that you contact your veterinarian to see if they agree knowing her medical history and if they would consider lowering the dose or using something else. For my clients, I generally want them to monitor the dog closely for any problems (appetite changes, vomiting or diarrhea, lethargy, etc.) when first starting Vetoryl, so I would likely prefer that they wait until they're back in town to start the meds. But, your vet may feel differently depending on the details of your dog's case.

He should be fine. You may see some vomiting, diarrhea and/or lethargy. He would need to ingest 8 of the pills for there to be a risk of toxicity. If necessary, withhold food for 24 hours, allowing small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until any symptoms of GI upset resolve. Transition slowly to his regular diet afterwards. If symptoms persist or worsen, have him examined by your veterinarian.

Havoc should be absolutely fine after ingesting the Proin tablet! He ingested approximately 4.4 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogram of body weight), and more serious signs of toxicity usually occur with doses over 15 mg/kg. There is a chance that Havoc may experience agitation, vomiting, decreased heart rate or elevated blood pressure. While these signs generally resolve within 24 hours of ingestion, it would be ideal to take Havoc to his vet for an exam and blood pressure measurement. I hope this helps!
