My dog just had toe surgery. Is some bleeding on her blanket normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 11 years and 1 month old

Bella had a lump removed from her toe 2 days ago. There is a lot of scabbing & a little blood on the blanket she uses. Is a little bit if bleeding ok? It's not noticable when I look at her incision. I just noticed a few tiny spots on the blanket

A small amount of seeping is to be expected. Any active bleeding that won't stop should be addressed by your veterinarian. Bella should have an e-collar (cone) on to prevent licking ro chewing the sutures. Try to restrict her activity as much as you can. leash walk her when she has to go outside.
