My dog just had toe surgery. Is some bleeding on her blanket normal?

Poor Bella! No it's not normal that her paws started bleeding, and if it's cold and snowy where you are, it could be the ice or the salt used to melt the ice that has caused her paws to bleed. It looks like the skin has come off on certain pads like a burn, and that is likely a bit painful for her. It's not an emergency, but I would recommend having her seen by a vet for it in the morning. Tonight, you can try washing the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and bandaging the paws that the more effected. Put an Ecollar on her to keep her from licking at the paws. Tomorrow at the vet, they may want to put her on antibiotics if they feel her paws are burned. In the future, I recommend putting Musher's Secret to protect her paws before going outside (you can buy it online) or getting her booties to wear. Yes, that is fairly normal for a punch biopsy. The opening is usually quite small, but it's a deep wound, so it tends to bleed a lot; especially in certain areas of the body and with certain lesions. I would not be worried right now. Keep it covered and the bleeding will stop soon. The bleeding will not be enough to cause any major damage, so no worries about that. The swelling should go down in the next 2-3 days. If it's past three days and it's still swelling, then it would be worth a recheck by your veterinarian. Hello. A little skin oozing is not unusual, but you might want to put a wrap around Max's abdomen. You can use any absorbent pads on the incision ( like a maxi pad ) & then secure the pad snugly, but not tightly with an overwrap using coban, vetwrap or even an ace bandage. If you see blood oozing through the bandage within hours, get him to an emergency clinic. Otherwise, just change the bandage twice a day until you see your vet. A little blood on the pad is OK. I am sorry to hear about your concern for Scout. I cannot tell from these photos if the incision is starting to open. If you think the incision is opening or there is yellow or green oozing from the incision, you will need to bring Scout back to his vet to have the area examined. If there is a small amount of bleeding, it could be that Scout is just being too active and you should ensure he isn't licking the area (an e-collar can help with this) and confine him to a small area and only go outside on a leash to potty. IF there is a persistent dripping of blood then he needs an examination at his vet.

Poor girl. Yes I would recommend taking her to the vet for this bleeding mass. Often times masses on young dogs are histiocytomas (benign tumors) and can spontaneously regress within 2-4 weeks. However getting this cleaned properly and a short course of anti-inflammatory medication, antibiotics and a temporary bandage are likely needed to help manage this wound in the meantime. Depending on the extent of the bleeding, it may or may not be significant. Small amounts of bleeding or red tinged discharge are to be expected for short periods of time following a surgical procedure. A steady flow or blood or thick discharge should be considered concerning. If the latter is occurring, I would seek out an emergency 24 hour veterinarian to assess the area. If this is not possible. you can apply a pressure bandage to the affected area to stem the flow of blood. You can do this with regular bandage material from a pharmacy and some surgical tape. When they do this, they rub their gums against the bone, which causes them to bleed - much like the way our gums can bleed when flossing. Occasionally, it can cut the gums; but again, these are usually not too serious and heal quickly. It would be good to have a look in her mouth and see if there are any glaring cuts or abnormalities. This is easier to do with two people, where one holds Bella still while opening her mouth, while the other shines a light into the mouth and inspects.
