My dog has tick bites and skin lesions. Is it a tick-borne disease?

I agree that these have a "bullseye" look to them, however we don't typically see bullseye lesions in dogs with tick disease, as they do in people (with Lyme disease). Often insect bites can leave this type of lesion, and I'd be wondering whether this was itchy or not, as it could be a mosquito bite or spider bite. Other things to consider would be ringworm and a bacterial skin infection (pyoderma). If Pepe is feeling well that makes me less concerned for tick disease, however based on your zip code Lyme is always a concern, so I would be inclined to get him tested for tick disease as you have found them on him recently.

This looks like a bacterial skin infection. It is not very likely to be related to the tick issue. Sometimes a medicated shampoo bath helps clear this up but other times oral antibiotics are needed. If this is not gotten better in the next 1 to 2 days I would contact your veterinarian to discuss antibiotics for Opie.

Luna's skin lesions look more consistent with the papules and pustules that can develop with a bacterial infection of the skin. Skin infections typically develop secondarily to allergies and can be quite itchy, which only serves to worsen an infection. At this point, Luna should go to her vet because she most likely needs a course of antibiotics to manage this condition. Also be sure that she is receiving a high quality flea preventative (such as Advantix, Nexgard or Bravecto) regularly because some dogs are allergic to even 1-2 flea bites, which can ultimately result in a skin infection. Skin lesions like Coco has can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, an insect bite like you mentioned, or a combination of the above. I recommend making an appointment to have Coco seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the lesion you’ve noticed and to make sure it is treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment.
