My dog is throwing up white clear phlegm after playing, is it normal?

Many times the trachea will be sensitive for another reason (like a mild infection, allergies or air contamination) and the pressure from the pulling triggers the coughing. If this does not appear to be the case, his stomach could be upset and the excessive movement from moving faster could be inciting the vomiting. This would be very concerning for a blockage in the stomach or severe irritation to the stomach or esophagus. It is not normal for her to be coughing after playing but if she has a touch of kennel cough then that may be why she is coughing. I suggest you get her to your veterinarian for an exam to be on the safe side.

This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or eventually to a chronic tracheitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective possibly kennel cough). She may have a cold or kennel cough. They get this from other dogs and it causes a lot of coughing and often some nasal discharge. When dogs cough they also sometimes vomit a small amount as a result so I'm not overly concerned about the vomiting if Rainey is otherwise normal. Keep her quiet to reduce the coughing, and away from other dogs as this can be infectious. She should be better in a few days to a weeek or so. It also could be due to a throat irritation from eating the bark and other items. Same thing though, with time this should resolve on its own. If she should get worse and stops eating or starts more vomiting then it's time for a veterinary exam and treatment. The most common reason for a dog this age to be coughing would be kennel cough. However, usually it is a dry cough and not a wet/congested cough. It could be from overheating but it is not very likely. I would just monitor her for now and if she is eating/drinking and acting otherwise normally then I would not be overly concerned unless the behavior continues. If she is not acting normally then she needs to see a vet for an exam.

If this does not clear up the vomiting, or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, she needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.
