Dog throwing up, peeing, twitching, and can't balance. What's wrong?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Kohel! Is there a chance that he could have gotten in to Marijuana? I agree it does sound like he could have gotten in to a toxin. Be sure that he didn't have access to anti-freeze. If there is ANY chance he could have it is deadly and immediate intervention is needed. The best thing for both dogs is to be seen at an Emergency hospital. It is best to be safe and proactive since you do not know what they could have gotten in to. I hope this helps and I wish you and both your dogs the very best!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would be worried about a few things regarding Bindi with what you are describing. One possibility if a bleeding tumor. If Bindi is older (>4-5 years old) this becomes more likely. You can look at her gums to see if they are pink or white. Otherwise, it is possible she got into a toxin (like marijuana) which can make her sleeping, be normal when 'roused' but otherwise be very flat and tired. If she is dribbling urine this is more likely. There are many other conditions as well. I would suggest calling the clinics in your area and finding one that does out of hours calls to see if they could see you. There are many other causes for her clinical signs, and without seeing her or knowing more it is hard to narrow it down. Best of luck with Bindi.

Yes, this certainly sounds suspicious for some type of toxicity. It's common for dogs to act like this with marijuana toxicity, in my experience, but ingestion of certain medications or other drugs could also cause symptoms like this. I would recommend taking your pup to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as this could be a serious problem depending on exactly what she might have gotten into, and how much. The vet there can do blood work or urine testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

I'm sorry to hear that Dakota is sick! Poor girl! I'm very concerned that she has vomited a blood clot and is having a hard time eating and urinating. Dakota needs to see a veterinarian right away to have these issues addressed. A blood clot in the vomit can indicate a severe GI ulcer or toxin exposure and subsequent bleeding. If she is unable to urinate she may have a severe UTI, bladder stone, or kidney infection. All of the above conditions require veterinary medical care. It is likely that Dakota may need blood work and a urinalysis to find out what the underlying cause is. She may need fluids and antibiotics in addition to other support care. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Dixie! Since she is so young I really worry about her eating a toxin. Another possibility though it is not common in such a young dog is vestibular disease. This is when the balance center is off and they feel like they are spinning. Their eyes tend to be moving abnormally, they have a head tilt, fall to one direction, walk drunk and vomit. I would take her to an open emergency hospital to be evaluated. I wish you the best!

Poor girl. These symptoms are highly suggestive of a toxin or drug intoxication. If this has been going on for more than 15-20 minutes duration, then I would highly recommend taking Bella Rose in to your local vet for a proper exam, diagnostic testing to hopefully pinpoint the problem, and treatment to help stabilize her condition. IF she did ingest a toxin, then the vet wil lhave to detox her quickly to help prevent any permanent damage on her organ systems, and also to prevent further absorption of the toxin in her gut. Another possible cause for these symptoms is a pyometra (spontaneous uterine infection). This can happen at any time in non-spayed female dogs and leads to septicemia which can cuase similar symptoms invvolved in a toxin ingestion. Tihs is also considered to be a serious condition and should be treated for as quicikly as possible by your vet. I hope that your fur baby Bella Rose is able to make a full and speedy recovery. Best case scenario this is THC toxicity (if you smoke marijuana or have edibles in the house, take a look around to see if you’re missing anything). Worst case scenario, this is something serious like a prostate or bladder tumor or infection. In either case, he needs to see the emergency vet for a good physical exam including a rectal exam. Even if you think it could be THC, the severity of his poisoning needs to be assessed- treatment ranges from monitoring at home to intensive hospitalization with seizure control and intralipid therapy.
