My dog threw up Heartgard. When can I give him another dose?

Poor guy. If he vomited within 1 hr of giving the medication, he likely vomited it back up. However, if you are still unsure and didn't see the pill within the vomit, it is best to wait at least 3 days, give a second dose, then wait 2 weeks and give a 3rd dose just to make sure he gets the medication. Hi, yes it could be from the food that Baby has eaten Yesterday as this could have been too rich for a small dog like her. You can try offering water over the next 4-6 hours, small amounts little and often and then offer her some bland food, like chicken and rice or white fish and rice. Hope this helps !

He should be OK. Don't give him the next dose of the medications until March 1st and even then, it is best to give one drug one day, wait a few days and then give the other. Giving them at the same time may be too hard on his system.

I would probably recommend waiting 3-7 days and give her a full dose instead, don't try mixing it with water as it becomes very bad to the taste this way, either mix it with food without breaking it or give it manually until swallowed.

Heartgard Plus has a very high margin of safety, so I would not expect this to cause any serious problems. I would recommend monitoring her for the next day or two to make sure that she's acting normal, but otherwise you shouldn't need to do anything different :) You can go ahead and give her next dose on April 15th as scheduled.

The good news is that Hartgard is a relatively safe drug, and it is difficult to overdose dogs with the medication. Typically, toxicity is worried about when the dog ingests 10-20 times the recommended dose. Your dog should be just fine :-)
