My dog only took half the dewormer dose. When can I give more?

Poor guy. If he vomited within 1 hr of giving the medication, he likely vomited it back up. However, if you are still unsure and didn't see the pill within the vomit, it is best to wait at least 3 days, give a second dose, then wait 2 weeks and give a 3rd dose just to make sure he gets the medication. I recommend deworming at 10 day intervals. It, of course, depends on the medications, but if you mixed a second dose I would recommend adjusting the remaining doses at the correct interval originally prescribed.

This will depend on the type of tape worm medication. You should use only a proper tape worm medication containing praziquantel or one prescribed by your veterinarian. If your cat regurgitates the praziquantel wormer you can give her another dose the next day. If she only took part of it, give her the rest of the dose preferably 1/2 hour later.

I would wait one week before giving the nitroscanate since it also contains a medication to treat tapeworms (as does the Droncit). If you can give a different dewormer that does not contain a tapeworm medication (like Drontal - not Drontal Plus) then you can give it now.

You can give him another full dose but I would wait a couple of days. That is very abnormal that the Heartgard would not have been digested fully and out of the stomach after 10 hours....... When you give it again I think you should give it with a piece of bread to help with digestion.

Hi, I would not repeat the dewormer dose as you do not want to overdose her on the dewormer. She should be dewormed again in 3 weeks to make sure you got the life cycle of all the parasites she may have. If she is not having diarrhea or weight loss she may not even have worms. There is not a need to deworm her before the vaccines, they will still work properly regardless of the worming. I would go to your vet for vaccines and bring a stool sample with you to see if they could check it for worms. Depending on what eggs they see, they might recommend a different dewormed like pyrantel or panacur (fenbendazole). Either way, i would not redose her because she is so small and it is easy to overdose them and make them sick. If your vet suggests something different, you can follow his or her instructions. Yes she sure can. It can take up to 1 week to rid the first round of worms in her system. Then as the worms in her system go through their 2 week life cycle (from baby worms to adult worms that you see in the poop) they should be treated again as a re-emergence of worms is seen. So the deworming schedule that I follow to ensure all worms (baby's and adults) are gone is as follows: 1) Deworm today 2) Deworm again in 3 days 3) Deworm again in 2 weeks But technically and most of the time you can get away with just doing #'s 1, and 3.
