My dog has a swollen leg with pus and blood. Is it an infection?

Sometimes a callous can become irritated or infected, especially if Toby is licking the area. The swelling could be related or might be from something different - joint inflammation, a sprain or even a tumor could cause swelling around a leg. I would recommend having Toby examined by your veterinarian.

The fact that it is swollen with a yellow bump has me concerned that it is becoming infected. You could clean the area with a wound wash but he really should be examined and treated by a vet as he may need an antibiotic.

A cyst is a fluid-filled pocket under the skin. They can have fluid or a thick substance. Sometimes the contents can come out but the only way to fully treat a cyst is to have it surgically removed. If it isn’t bothering Buddy though, it doesn’t need to be removed. I would take Buddy to a vet to have this confirmed and they can discuss your options further. Good luck and kisses to Buddy!

This sounds like Prada may have an infection or abscess on her leg. This needs to be assessed and treated by a veterinarian, who will also prescribe antibiotics and pain medicine if indicated. Please take Prada to a veterinarian ASAP.

I'm sorry Pogo has this going on. Many things can cause what you describe, but I am suspicious that it might be an infected and now ruptured tumor. This could be benign or malignant, but should be evaluated quickly. Your veterinarian may have to treat the infection before they can diagnose what the lump may be. In the mean time warm compresses may help it drain and make Pogo feel better. Keep him indoors and away from flies or the wound will be full of maggots in a day. Good luck to both of you!
