My dog's leg is bleeding, swollen, with a yellow bump. Is it infected?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 4 years old | 32 lbs

So we found out my dog was bleeding from his leg. The area around the puncture/dark spot is swollen and there's a little yellow bump. He seems to be able to walk just fine despite this. What is this and how can we treat it? Is it urgent or do we just need to disinfect it?

The fact that it is swollen with a yellow bump has me concerned that it is becoming infected. You could clean the area with a wound wash but he really should be examined and treated by a vet as he may need an antibiotic.
