Why does my dog suddenly get crazy energy and run around the house?

Sounds like Papi may have a case of the puppy zoomies. This is totally normal and usually happens when your dog is very excited or happy. Adding in some extra exercise or play time can help, as well as making sure there is a clear path to run around in!

She may just be doing that to get her energy out. Not all cats like to go outside. I would recommend if you are concerned having your veterinarian take another look at her, but without any other symptoms, this does not seem abnormal. That is quite strange behavior! Does he act like something is getting his behind? tucking his tail and running away from something. If so, I would have his anal glands checked by your vet. If not, then you may just want to have a thorough exam done to ensure nothing else is hurting or causing him to be so anxious. Your vet will also be able to check his eyes and ears to ensure nothing is throwing his senses off. If all is normal, your vet may recommend an anti-anxiety medicine to help calm him. If this happens mostly at night your vet may recommend only to give it at night. You could also try Benadryl before bedtime but unfortunately, this isn't always strong enough. It sounds like Kingston may be getting a case of the "puppy zoomines" which can happen when a dog is very excited. They may whine, pin their ears back, and run around the house or in a circle very excitedly when doing so. If this behavior is emerging and he's otherwise acting healthy and normal, it could just be he is becoming more comfortable in your home (and why he doesn't do it elsewhere is because he isn't comfortable there yet). Spending some more time playing together to get out that excess energy, and signing up for a puppy kindergarten class together once he is old enough is a good start. As with any new puppy, it is always good to set up a new-puppy wellness exam with your vet to get him initially examined, a vaccination schedule started, and have him start off on the right paw.

It sounds like Queen is having some playtime ! It is absolutely normal given her age, as she grows older she will not be doing it so much. It is normal for dogs to play but if they are overexcitable most of the time they need training to help them learn to be calm too.

Hello, and thank you for your question! You did not state the age of your dog, but I am assuming he is young. High energy is common for many young, large breed dogs. My advice would be to try to get his energy out throughout the day, through several hour-long walks and play sessions in the park. This will hopefully reduce his manic energy in the house! If you work all day and have minimal time, enlist the help of a dog walker or friend who can come by during the day to take Eldridge out for some fresh air. I would aim for a minimum of 2-3 hours of exercise outdoors per day. I hope this helps, and that Eldridge is otherwise happy and healthy!
