Why does my dog suddenly jump and run to nothing, seeing things?

It could be lots of things, a sound only Miki can hear, itching from fleas or allergies, pain, etc. If this behavior continues in 24 hours, it is a good idea to have him examined by a vet for any possible medical causes.

If only Truman could talk! That's good that he looked normal on physical exam but it is frustrating not to know why this is happening. Fleas and pinched nerves can make pets react like this. Poor Shelly! She could be having a muscle spasm, itching, fleas, or most commonly anal gland issues. Dogs act this way commonly when their anal glands are bothering them. The anal glands are two gland just inside their anus that are suppose to naturally express when they have a bowel movement. Unfortunately, when they age, some dogs don’t express theirs as routinely as they are suppose to do they get full and uncomfortable. I would have your vet take a look at her to ensure nothing more serious is going on and to see if her anal glands are full. You need to rule out an underlying medical problem before you assume it is behavioral especially if nothing has changed in the environment. You have a few options: 1. Have your vet check him over - especially his vision and hearing to rule out a medical issue. The lighting may be causing him issues in those particular rooms. 2. Something may have scared him in those rooms. Don't force him to go in there and just leave him be. He doesn't have to sleep in there with you. 3. Contact a professional, in-home dog trainer to come over and assess the situation to see if this is a behavioral issue that can be corrected.

Same spot? Same triggers? Is the neighbor arriving home in a noisy car at that time, etc? This may help you figure out what is triggering it so you can make some adjustments- IE moving the bed somewhere quieter, making sure your dog is fast asleep prior to that time, getting out excess energy before bed, feeding a treat to keep the stomach from becoming too empty and causing growling/discomfort, etc. If you can't seem to find any pattern at all, taking a video of the even to bring to your vet or a local trainer may be helpful in better identifying what is going on, and finding a solution.

Sounds like Kaden has a pretty significant anxiety disorder. I suggest you speak to your vet about what treatments are available.
