My 10-month cavapoo is subdued and sneezing post-neuter. Is he sick?

It is worth taking him back for a recheck but not as an emergency unless he is it eating or drinking . They do have to pass a tube and intimate him for the procedure and that can cause coughing and irritation but usually not a mucous discharge with excessive sneezing. This can be the start of an infection and he may need antibiotics

This may be present due to something affecting his gastrointestinal system and/or his respiratory system for example. If this continues, I recommend you have Ace evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check what may be wrong with him so that this can be treated accordingly. Good luck!

Cornelius is a very handsome cat! It sounds like he picked up a cold which can be viral but can also have a secondary bacterial component. If it is just a virus it can take a full two weeks to get through his system. If he is lethargic, not eating, the sneezing gets worse or he has nasal/eye discharge I would recommend a veterinarian. At that point he may need antibiotics. I would try to call the spay/neuter clinic you had him neutered at to see if they have a veterinarian that would be able to look at him also. Great question! I would take him into the Humane Society to have his incision examined. Call first to make sure the vet is available. While some irritation can be normal, it's not normal for him to feel warm and be more lethargic than usual. Drooling excessively isn't normal either, than could be due to nausea. I wouldn't expect to see these signs a week after being neutered, so a check with the vet is best. I hope this help!

It isn't likely to have caused whatever is causing the symptoms. It is likely he had a pre-existing condition that may have been aggravated by the anesthesia. Many of these drugs are filtered by the liver and kidneys. Blood work is a start. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites, bacterial overgrowth or malabsorption/maldigestion issues. Whatever the underlying cause, supportive care is likely indicated. Discuss a feeding tube and parenteral nutrition (IV nutritional support) with your veterinarian.

Something's not right - Copper should be recovering normally at this point. I'm worried about a potential reaction to pain medication, or even a completely unrelated problem, such as parasites or a bacterial or viral GI infection. I would get him seen as soon as possible - he needs to be examined to determine the exact cause, and treated with appropriate medications.

The nose of a dog is not used as an indication of illness. A dog's nose can change from cold and wet to warm and dry just by laying in the sun or sitting near a heat source. He may still be sleepy from his nap, and given that he just started this behavior, I would monitor him for now. If he's still lethargic in the morning, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.
