My dog keeps trying to poop on runs, but nothing comes out. Why?

Sometimes irritation in the colon or problems passing her full amount of stool (like a constipation). If she has not been checked for parasites in the last month, I recommend to have this done. You can try changing her food as well to something like Royal Canin which tends to be low residue and very easy on the colon. If this looks more like constipation, canned pumpkin may help. It is possible that there is no more stool in the colon because the soft poop was the precursor to diarrhea. But the only way to differentiate an empty colon from a constipated colon is to have Buddy examined by a vet. Some dogs just keep moving when they eliminate feces. The only reason I can see for that is that they are sort of disgusted with their own feces and therefore "run away from it" in order to not step in it. It also can just be a habit. Moving also helps loosen the stool so it can come out easier. It is nothing to worry about.

You may try taking Roxy outside for a short walk to do her business before doing any the treadmill exercise so she can get it out prior to treadmill exercising. Some dogs will have excessive bowel movements when they go for a walk. It's likely due to a combination of excitement, exercise and scent marking. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to change the behavior. Things that you can do that may address this and may help would be to add a daily probiotic to try to keep the stool more firm, switch the diet- I recommend a brand called Royal Canin because it is very easy to break down and pets tend to have good stool quality on this food, play with him before a walk to get some of the energy out so he is not as excitable, and lastly, neutering him may also help to make him less excitable. If Kado's other bowel movements are normal I wouldn't be too concerned but if he is having looser stools all the time I would recommend bringing him in to the vet for an exam. It is not unusual for dogs to have a bowel movement and maybe even have it be a little loose on a run due to increased GI motility due to the exercise. I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem with Soska. This is a common issue for dogs who have been punished for having housetraining accidents - they become afraid to pee or poop in front of the owner, which then makes it extremely difficult to teach them where to go. I would recommend going back to basics with Soska and starting over with her housetraining as if she were a puppy. This means taking her out frequently for potty breaks, and rewarding with praise and a treat as soon as she poops outside. Inside, she needs to be supervised at all times to prevent any opportunity for accidents. You may need to be very patient at first, since if she is afraid to "go" in front of you, it will take her a long time to trust you again.
