My dog stepped on poisoned lawn, will washing paws keep her safe?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | unspayed

So a couple of days ago my neighbor told me he put some sort of poison on his lawn (dog poison) that would soak up into their feet and kill them. It’s been raining heavily for the past couple of days and my dog accidentally stepped on his lawn, I ran straight to the bathroom and gave her feet and belly a wash with soap, will she be ok? I’m super worried and am hating the anticipation of something bad.

That is just terrible! As far as I'm aware, there is no dog poison that will soak into their feet and kill them. Washing Noir's feet is a good idea, and to be safe, I'd take her into the vet to have her checked out. Best of luck.
