My dog stepped on poisoned lawn, will washing paws keep her safe?

This does look like poison ivy. In many cases, a dog's haircoat or thick food pads prevent the dog from getting a rash from poison ivy though if their belly or bare skin touches the plant they can develop a rash. They can also get the oils from the plant on their fur and then the owners can pet the dog and end up with a rash from the oils. Bathing in a colloidal oatmeal shampoo can decrease this risk but if this is in your yard I would think about having it removed.

If there was to be a problem, it would typically show up within 2-12 hours after exposure. If you see depression, weakness, incoordination, muscle tremors, salivation, vomiting, a skin rash, or collapse, get him into a vet immediately. I'd monitor him for the time period I mentioned above, but after that time period passes and if there are no signs, he should be ok. I hope this helps!

As long as it is a water based paint and you have washed the area of thoroughly I don't suspect that there will be any problem. Certainly you should make any attempt to prevent her from trying to lick the area in the meantime in case anything residual that could be on there. You might consider either obtaining an ecollar from a vet or pet store or watching a YouTube video on how to make a homemade one. Without seeing the ingredients on the paint I can't be one hundred percent sure that it is completely non-harmful. You could consider calling the pet poison helpline if you are becoming concerned about any possible ingestion then they will be able to go over the possible effects of the substance that is being eaten. There shouldn't be a problem with this, only if something is sprayed on the moss should it be a problem. Most ground moss, Irish moss, and that like are non toxic to dogs. The ASPCA has an extensive list of toxic and non-toxic plants on their website.
