My dog's snout is swollen and bleeding from a cat scratch. Infected?

I still think that a focal infection or traumatic lesion is more likely. You can use a topical medication like Douxo 3% PS pads which you may find online. You can apply this to the affected area twice daily for 2 weeks. If this does not resolve or appears to be progressing, have Lovey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Even though a picture would help to understand better the severity of it, this cut could get infected (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching. Hi, From what described above as superficial scratch and no active bleeding, which was cleaned and locally treated with antibiotic it possible it can wait for a few days. But if any if these signs present: bleeding, bothering him and he start scratching/ licking, redness, foul smell or discharge please take him to the vet earlier. In the meantime keep the area clean and you can continue with the antibiotic ointment under supervision to make sure he is not licking it due to the location which makes it easy for the dog to lick. Since she is able to lick it, it's not advised to put anything on it. The best way to ensure it stays clean and doesn't get infected is to flush the wound with clean water, or saline twice a day for five minutes. Flush the wound with a syringe using a good amount of force. She won't like it, so you'll probably need someone to help hold her. If the wound happens to get swollen, very red and/or is leaking pus, then it would be best to take Molly to a veterinarian for treatment. I hope that helps and all is well with Molly.

I see what you mean about the spot on Sheshe's nose, but it doesn't appear to be infected in the picture. It may be from playing with the other cat. I would keep an eye on it for now. If it gets worse, starts to bother her, it turns red, swollen, warm to the touch, or you see pus, then I would have her seen by a vet for it. I hope this helps.

I mostly worry about infection and tumors as the cause of the swelling and bleeding. There is a common fungal infection known as cryptococosis that can cause this, which is treatable, but requires long- term therapy. There are also other fungal and bacterial infections that can cause this. Tumors can also be treated with varying success depending on the type of tumor present. It's important to get Spike to a vet sometime soon to exam her and diagnose the specific problem. These types of diseases are often life-threatening and are more treatable earlier in the course of the disease. I hope that helps and Spike gets better soon.

It is definitely possible that she cut herself on something. It almost appears that she may have a rub sore on her nose from rubbing her nose against something. It does not look infected so I would keep an eye on this and if it worsens, take Masha in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made.
