My dog had a sneezing fit that looked like a seizure. Should I worry?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 45 lbs

My dog just had a sneezing fit where only her left eye closed and she sneezed for about 30 seconds it looked as if she were having seizure. She’s playing fine now should I be worried?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. If you suspect that Daisy had a seizure, I would try and get her examined by a veterinarian sooner rather than later. It is possible that this was not a seizure and was purely a sneezing fit. If Daisy appears to be normal now after the incident, I would monitor her for now and then take her in if the sneezing / seizure like activity recurs. If she continues to have seizure like episodes, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Daisy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
