My dog sneezed, then collapsed and twitched. Is this an emergency?

If you suspect that Daisy had a seizure, I would try and get her examined by a veterinarian sooner rather than later. It is possible that this was not a seizure and was purely a sneezing fit. If Daisy appears to be normal now after the incident, I would monitor her for now and then take her in if the sneezing / seizure like activity recurs. If she continues to have seizure like episodes, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Daisy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. There are any number of medical reasons that might explain this, but the most likely would be a seizure (not all are classic grand mal), or a heart issue. The best way to determine the cause is to let your veterinarian do a full exam & blood work to rule out any metabolic or otherwise obvious reasons for the episode. The symptoms that Doofy is showing are not specific for one particular disease, but they could be due to stroke, vestibular syndrome, intoxication, twisted stomach. Sneezing as a sole symptom is not an emergency, and his vocalizing during sleep may have been related to a dream. However, the vomiting multiple times has me more worried, and warrants a vet visit - particularly since it's coming on the heels of his respiratory changes. Hope this helps!

Poor Josie! That sounds as though it may be a neurological problem, as some types of seizures can look like that. Please have Josie seen by a veterinarian for evaluation, and take in a video of her behaviour if possible. If she really isn't doing well and you feel she needs veterinary care immediately I would recommend going to an emergency hospital. Without actually seeing her do it, it is hard to say why. You can always check a temperature on her rectally. Dogs typically run between 101-103. That sounds like Jb had a seizure. I would recommend taking him in. I like to do blood work including checking thyroid levels. I’m looking for treatable things. He also needs a thorough neurological exam to see if there are any deficits. I don’t usually place on anti-seizure medication for one seizure. I do recommend keeping a seizure log- keeping track of what they were doing, how long it lasted.. etc I have been using Royal Veterinary College App for my personal dog.
