Dog got snake bite meds early. Is it okay to skip next dose?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 7 years and 10 months old | 27 lbs

My dog was bitten by a snake, and was given 3 different meds. One is every 12 hours and the other two are every 24. This morning I accidentally gave him the 2 that are every 24 hours, instead of waiting until this evening. I would ask our vet but today is his surgery day.

He should be fine if he had it 12 hrs earlier than normal. Just skip his next dose and resume the normal schedule tomorrow.

I hope that your pet Scrat is able to recover well from his recent snake bite attack. Best wishes and take care.
