What if I gave my dog his medication dose too early? Will he be okay?

It is best to give the next dose at his regularly scheduled time unless the dose you just gave was very close to it. 8-10 hours apart should be fine to get him back on his regular medical schedule. If he has any issues, or if you are concerned about the meds you are giving, it is best to speak with his treating veterinarian for more information.

No, there isn't such a thing as giving them too early or too late, but I'd give them to Teddy at times that are convenient to you so he gets each dose at the same time each day. I'd also give them with food. I hope this helps.

I would not be overly concerned however, it depends on the dose and how far apart the doses were given. If you are talking about 2 hours apart then there could be an issue. If you are talking more like 9-10 hours apart then it should be just fine.

But he likely will be fine! If he receives any of these medications twice daily just skip tonight's dose. Even if they are just once a day medications he will likely be fine. Not to worry - this type of issue happens quite frequently. At this point, I think your best bet is to give Tater-Tot her 11pm enalapril dose early around 8-9pm, and then return her to her normal 11am/11pm schedule tomorrow. Do not give a double dose! If she seems to show signs of congestive heart failure, such as difficulty breathing, trouble settling down, or exercise intolerance, it is worth taking her to a vet urgently. Fortunately congestive heart failure is rarely dramatically exacerbated after missing one dose of medication. I hope this helps and that all goes well!
