My dog has small, shiny bumps not bothering him. When should I worry?

Hello. These are probably benign, but since they are pigmented, I would recommend checking them out. A biopsy of one of them should confirm what the rest are & if a treatment plan is indicated, your veterinarian will know exactly what to do, even if it is just a watch & wait on the bumps. Hello. Pretty much all of these look benign & not overly worrisome. But all new lumps, bumps & nodules should be pointed out to your veterinarian at Skittles next scheduled visit. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Steven. I'm not sure what these are just by looking at the pictures. It's possible they are small localized areas of infection. If they persist, worsen or other signs develop (itching, scratching, etc) I would advise taking Steven to your veterinarian. These lesions may just resolve on their own without any treatment. Again, monitor them, if changes occur have your vet evaluate them. Your vet can get a firsthand look at them and recommend treatment if needed. Good luck

This cannot be completely assessed just by looking at pictures or a description and usually requires sampling such as fine needle aspiration to determine its origin. I can see the bumps on Valentino's skin - they may be an early sign of a skin infection, small bug bites, or an allergic reaction (those bumps are usually larger and more itchy, though). I recommend having Valentino seen by a vet as soon as possible, as he may need antibiotics or medicated shampoo to cure the condition. I hope this helps and that all is well!
